Site Visit(12/7/16)
First time going to Omni Dental was giving my reusme tomJessica at the front desk, she was interested and wanted to know more about the internship program. I stood their and gave her the full gist of what it is and what I am seeking from it. She then told me some amazing stories about the work place and about her role in the work place.
Hopes & Fears(1/3/17)
Dentistry always interested me, and through this program I will have the opportunity to find out if this type of work would be good for me in the long run. I'm always thinking about the future and what I want to do in life, this has been on that list for a longtime now. I am scared of getting too nervous and not asking enough questions, because then I will have been waisting my time and everybody around the work place. I am excited to see what the future will hold for me.
My Mentor(1/4/17)
Mission Statement(1/5/17)
Omni Dental's, main mission is to create bonds with their patients and try to connect, they want to make each appointment meaningful and not just for money, but for new experiences. This is why they have lots of customers because others refer to them. Some dentistrys could be shady and leave out some information so they can make more money buy not telling other options. While as Omni, they try to educate you, so you can make the best choice for you and your family.
Logistics(1/6/17)
I am pretty suprised that I am getting into the work this fast. I thought it would take maybe2 weeks but on my 4th day they put me to work and I loved it. It was really exciting putting away all the tools and setting up the trays for the dental assistants and hygenist I mostly do recalls and basic tray, hopefully I will be able to do extraction trays, and get it right. I was kind of nervous doing this much work and might messing up but my mentor encourage me to get out there and try and he was right.
In full uniform luckily they had my size.

Daniel Stevens(1/9/17)
Today's selfie is with Daniel Stevens, he is a man who puts family first. He thinks about his jobs as an art, and tries to perfect it time after time. He met his wife in high school and since then they've been going to all the same schools. They went to UCSD Undergrad for 4 years, then went to Tufts for another 4 years, last but not least they went to USC residency for 2 years. Then he opened up his dentistry office with his wife and hired caring, respectful, employees and their business is still booming till this day.
Who Benefits(1/10/17)
Both, patient and staff benefit from dentistry. Daniel gets to keep memories, from crazy patients and gain reputation from fixing their crazy teeth, also he get's to feel good that he fixed someones smile. When the patients are overwhelmed by the fixing of thier smile they go out to their friends about how the dentist at Omni Dental are so detailed about their work, which leads to more patients. More patients lead to more memories and also more money obvisouly. We want people to know about us so they can get the help they need. So that we can all benefit from this great experience. I also get to hear the memories in stories in which I benefit from his business.
My Project(1/11/17)
For my project, I will create a replica model of my teeth and showing different methods of repairing or replacing a tooth. The main methods are; implants, bridges, and crowns.I will get the imprint from my own teeth and then create a stone model of it. While I am in the process of making my project I will have it documented and edited into a video so my fellow classmates can watch it and after the video I will pass around the real model. I might also add in a tooth releasing so they can see how dentist will get my canine out.
Social Interactions(1/12/17)
Well most of the dental assistants work in 1 room to prepare trays and clean the instruments. When they go out to help the dentist and hygienist, is when the leave the room. They still interact with everyone when they pass by, but only when their not busy. We all work in open spaces, but there are walls to separate us the dental assistants wont mix up any of the instruments with other instruments. Collaborations are key in the office to make sure everyone is updated with the news of each patient.
Future Path Changing(1/13/17)
Well since working here at this internship, my educational thoughts shifted. In a way, I am terrified of failing and messing up and throwing away all of the money that's going to be use to go through school. If I am going to stick with this dream of mine hopefully Ill be done with school when I turn 27. I am not scared of not having fun in my prime years, I am scared of not being able to do anything for myself, I am scared of failing and having to rely on my parents to help me get back up on my feet. But through all that depressing stuff, my mentor believes in me, saying that I can accomplish if I know what I am doing and not only focus on learning but advancing to the next level so I can accomplish my dream of being a dentist.
Fellow Interns(1/17/17)
Jason Alvarado: He seems like he is having a wonderful time at his internship. Apparently he is already getting some of the action. I really like how he is involved with his internship and he is able to connect with his mentors.
Mannix Cepeda: Hopefully he is getting a great use of experience from his internship to hopefully better his work ethic and stop him from goofing off. I think this internship was a good choice for him since he loves music
Ryan McClintic: Seems to me, that his role in his internship has been upgraded to where he is able to help work on cars. Before the 10th he touched not one car, but since he brought his car to work, his co-workers really go interested and told the boss and no he is moving on up.
All in all hopefully this experience well help guide these guys into the future and pick the right paths.

Challenges(1/18/17)
Well the only challenges I have with my internship is the space between the rooms without bumping into someone ( I don't but my co workers do ), that's about it. Also I get pretty shy around people and I don't smile much ( I couldn't smile if my life depended on it ), I still love my internship and I get amazed everyday. My colleagues always smile, and are never shy so they don't struggle much. They take their time carefully walking through the hallway to get to the rooms without disaster.
limitations(1/19/17)
Well the one thing I hope to gain from the this experience, is to be my true self and try to be more interactive with my colleagues. Having to do so would be hard now, but in the future I will achieve that goal. Also trying to contain my rowdiness, and try to be more civilized. Balancing out the two is a difficult task.
Internship Vs School(1/20/17)
Well I love work, I get to do the things that I am gonna go to further my education. Learning is also good because without school I would never had have this great opportunity. Well like I said in previous blog post, through this experience will help guid my path through the road of professions. This will help me get a better view education wise, and also work wise. Questions keep popping up in my head, like am I going to be ready to dedicate the next 8-10 years of my life, or is there a chance I could skip it all and find something other to do. I just balance it on what will help me out in the next 30 years from now?
Inspiration For Project(1/23/17
My inspiration for my project was to make a stone model of my teeth like I said in previous blogs. Even though I already wrote this blog It got deleted. I've already made 2 models one with my teeth how they are, and another one with a bridge, crown, and implant. There are more to show but these feel like the simplest. Teaching my fellow classmates about each procedure is probably the main point of my whole project. I got inspired because it was a real representation of my own teeth.
Roles?(1/24/17)
Being able to express yourself in the work place is okay but only when the time is right. There is time to joke around and a time to act serious which is preferable to balance it out I say 70% seriousness, and 30% joking around. That is one of the keys to have a safe working environment. I've loosened up since working at my internship, I kept acting serious which is okay but they wanted me to be myself. Which is one of the things I love about my internship.
IPOL - Presentation(1/25/17)
Well I did my IPOL presentation early and with my co-workers because we are off the day of when my advisory is supposed to finish. I thought it went well, my co-workers were pleased about my presentation, but I knew I've could've done better. Fourtanetly my mentor gave me a list of things I can change to make my presentation even better, for when I present to my advisory on the first day I get back so here is the first rough draft: docs.google.com/presentation/d/1_cTDBDk_FicP2XnaaIE5Dluc6h6QSLLmdRdGshwWe4Q/edit#slide=id.g1c3393a30d_0_0
Characteristics(1/26/17)
I guess you can say I'm more eager to try new things and try to do my best at helping when help is needed. Well my views have shifted a little bit, but my goal is still the same and even though I still have a long journey ahead of me, thanks to the map (map = experiences, lessons, advice) my mentor gave me the journey will be a little bit sweeter. I want to be more confident when I am around people and not seem weak. My goal for my new views on life is to grab it by the hands and pull it towards me and never let go.
Thankful For?(1/30/17)
I am thankful for the experiences I get to have all through out my internship. Most of this was mention in my IPOL. Experiences is one of items I want to bring back from my internship and use it in the future. Stories is another thing, telling mg y fellow classmates about what I've been doing sounds pretty interesting. All in all this internship has been the best, unfortunately this is my last week, but I hope I get to spend it doing more fun things around the office, but I still love the work I am doing now.
Future Education(1/31/17)
Well since this internship I knew I was going to be doing a little bit more in school to get what I need to follow my goal. I honesty thought I was going to be doing 2 years more but I was off by 2. An additional 4-6 years is what I will need to be a success in the field of dentistry. I have learned about UCSD and Tufts University. Hopefully Ill get into SDSU and hopefully UCSD, but I just gotta hope and have faith.
Experience Beyond(2/1/17)
Before I leave my internship, I will ask my mentor for future education in dentistry, like medical schools for juniors or a summer program to help teach me. I am on board with my future and I look how it looks so I will do everything in my power to keep my going on this path to success. I will always be involved and in-contact with my mentor so he can help me guide through the journey that I was mentioning in previous blog post.
Project(2/2/17)
My project is a piece of me literally, I made it from my own mouth top and bottom row of teeth. The model represents the procedure I could've taken before I found out that I had another tooth coming in. It stands out because it shows the work I had put into it. It also looks nice because it was looked over by my mentor and when he gave me the okay I started to polish. It looks like something you would go into pay for, but your only getting paid for the types of guards that come from the use of your stone model. You don't actually keep the model, but In my case you do. I would've done more procedures on my model.
